Ronald Lee Moore

Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Moore, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, of Laurel, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Ronnie was born February 11, 1942 in Delmar, Maryland, one of 10 sons of the late Charles W. Moore and Mary Katherine Collins Moore. Born and raised in Delmar, he attended Delmar High School where he played baseball and was considered one of the best and fastest pitchers on the Shore. After high school Ronnie started his career working in fiberglass and worked many years for Chris-Craft and Bayliner Marine in Salisbury, Fib-Con in Silver Spring and was the owner of R&J Fiberglass Repair for decades. He was well known for his fiberglass expertise. Several highlights of his career were being commissioned to repair the Ronald and Nancy Reagan medicine cabinet in the White House and work at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. More recently Ronnie worked for Columbia Vending in Delmar. Prior to his illness, he attended Emmanuel Church in Salisbury. Ronnie’s athletic and competitive nature led to a career as a professional duck pin bowler. He was an avid sports fan and a faithful Caps and Redskins fan. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed crabbing and boating. Annual Thanksgiving rabbit hunting trips with his brothers and nephews were always something he looked forward to. He also loved to travel and enjoyed many family trips to the OBX and Virginia Beach. All that knew Ronnie will remember his wonderful sense of humor, his love for chocolate covered cherries, Wawa frozen mocha cappuccino, and music by his favorite band, Alabama. Most importantly, Ronnie was a loving and devoted family man. He could always be counted on to support his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, and nieces and nephews. Ronnie could always be found in the bleachers rooting for his family at ball games, school plays and any other activity they were involved in. His family meant everything to him and he will be missed by all who loved him. The family would like to send a special thanks for Dr. Aguillon for always being available when needed and for helping keep Ronnie comfortable in his final days. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jo Ann (Farrow) Moore; children, Leah Hobbs and husband, Guy, Mary Beth Morgan, Kimberly Lyons and husband, Rick, Lillian Gittings, David Moore and wife, Lisa and Alan Moore and significant other, Becky; grandchildren, Haley, Evan, Emily, Samantha, Kristen, Dallas, Courtney, Ethan, Thiago, Steven, Kinsey, Albrei, Brandon, Brittany, Lindsay, Peyton, Brianna and Olivia; several great grandchildren; brothers, Ricky Moore and wife, Dee, Kenny Moore and wife, Pat and Michael Moore; and many nieces and nephews and close friends. He is also survived by many good friends, especially a special friend, Jerry Banks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Moore, Jr.; grandsons, Jacob Foxwell and Samuel Enfield; brothers, Jackie, Bobby, Jerry, Billy, CT and Phil; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a funeral service which begins at 11:00. The Reverend Tom Bunting will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Delmar.
