Wayne Thomas Bailey, II

SALISBURY- Wayne Thomas Bailey, II, age 9, of Salisbury, lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He was born in Salisbury on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2001, a son of Heather LaBounty Bailey and Wayne Thomas Bailey, both of Salisbury. Wayne had attended Salisbury Christian School since kindergarten where his friendly manner and huge smile made a lasting impression on teachers and his classmates. He was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury. Wayne had tremendous faith in his God and even aspired to be a pastor one day. Wayne loved sports and was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan. In 2005 he joined the Steamers Soccer Club and quickly became one of the team’s most versatile and energetic players. Soccer was his passion and even during his cancer treatments he would dream of his return to the team. He will be sorely missed by his coaches, players and entire Steamers family who will never forget the last-second goal he scored at the buzzer in the final game he played in February. Wayne also loved baseball and played for a number of years for Delmar Little League. Wayne was an imaginative, creative boy who loved building with Legos and was an accomplished video gamer. Family and his many friends will remember Wayne as a boy who touched many hearts over his nine short years with his huge blue eyes, mischievous smile and his passion for life. His family is forever grateful for the care and compassion received from the many special caregivers and friends from Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 2 sisters, Shania Bailey and Natalie Bailey, both of Salisbury; grandparents, Debbie Hyle of Salisbury, Howard and Donna LaBounty of Delmar, Vernon and Charlotte Bailey of Salisbury and Cindy and Bill Shaver of Salisbury; and a great grandfather, Frank Ennis of Delmar. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many special friends. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 217 Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804, where family and friends may call Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service. The Reverends Tom Bunting and Mark Bunting will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
