Wayne Walbert

Wayne Walbert, 76, of Delmar, passed away at his home on Monday, February 26, 2024.He was born September 27, 1947 in Chestertown, Maryland, a son of the late Wilbur Wilson Walbert and Mary (Titterington) Walbert. Wayne graduated from Chestertown High School with the class of ’66. At a young age he started working on the neighboring farms and had a true passion for agriculture. Wayne spent most of the 1970’s working as a self-employed contractor. In the early 80’s he began his career in agriculture with Delmar Grain INC and found his true calling. He worked in agriculture most of his life and was looking forward to retirement later this year from his position as a Seed Division Manager with the Chemgro Seed Co. Wayne was a skilled woodworker who always had a project going in his wood shop behind the house and was an avid decoy collector and carver. In his free time, he enjoyed working outdoors in his vegetable garden or his landscaping. Wayne was a vital part of the Delmar community where he was a past member of the Delmar Fire Department and the Delmar Kiwanis Club. Wayne never met a stranger and will be remembered for his warm friendly smile and his willingness to help anyone in need. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 56 years, Julia Francine (Parsons) Walbert; sons, Kurt Walbert and wife, Tammy and Jeff Walbert; grandchildren, Zach Walbert (Rachel), Corina Walbert (Matt), Brandon Walbert (Amber),Sydney Walbert Amanda Durham, and Rob Gribble; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Hill, Zane Walbert, Colton Walbert, Beanie and Quincy JR Mitchell, Logan Harrison, and Ava Salisbury: a brother, David Walbert; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lee Pardoe. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Parsonsburg Vol Fire Company, 33030 Old Ocean City Road in Parsonsburg, where family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or to the Parsonsburg Vol Fire Company P.O.
