Raymond A. Hearn Jr.

Raymond A. Hearn, Jr., 87, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 10, 1933 in Laurel, Delaware, a son of the late Pauline G. Hearn and Raymond Andrew Hearn. He graduated from Laurel High School with the class of 1952 and after attended Goldey-Beacom College. Ray proudly served his country in the Delaware Army National Guard for a total of 26 years and 10 months. He loved all people and enjoyed a long and fruitful career in sales for the auto parts industry and even after retirement from Pardo Truck Parts he worked as a parts delivery man for several local auto dealers. Football was a passion for Ray as he was an avid, lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and served as an official for the Delmarva Football Association for 32 years. Memberships included Powellville United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 64 in Salisbury for 39 years, Salisbury Moose Lodge 654 and he was a charter member of the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department. Ray loved to travel, especially camping, and many great memories were made while camping with family and friends. He served as club president for the Delmarva Seagulls Camping Club for several years. While Ray loved to travel, he also enjoyed spending the winters in Florida. NASCAR was a favorite of Ray’s and when not watching football he rooted faithfully for Rusty Wallace. He will be remembered for his love for God, family and country and will be missed dearly for his adventurous spirit and fun-loving smile. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Marie (Church) Hearn; children, Raymond “Randy” A. Hearn, III (Zona), Patrice Morris (Rick), Donna Mulvania (Jim), Sharon Thomas (Vic), Clinton C. Lewis (Jodi), Cheryl A. Einstein (Jake), Sabrina M. Papps, and Paul J. Lewis, Jr. (Laura); 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; brothers, Ronald Hearn (Anita) and Billy Hearn (Bonnie); sisters, Betty Graham, and Joyce Ann Hearn; and many nieces and nephews. Ray’s family would also like to thank their loving neighbor, nurse and caregiver, Cathy Mason, who has been so much help to them for so many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katina Larimore; a brother, Roger Hearn; and a baby sister, Marie Hearn. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Due to current gathering restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required. Funeral services will be private. Interment with military honors will be held at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. In memory of Mr. Hearn, contributions may be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
