Morgan Thomas Rose

Morgan Thomas Rose, 74, of Sharptown, died August 18, 2015 at his home, with his loving family. He was born November 4, 1940 in New York City, the son of the late Morgan G. Rose and Helen Johnston Rose. Morgan proudly served his country in the US Army, assigned to an Airborne Unit in Italy, received commendations as a Sharpshooter and an honorable discharge in 1963. He worked as a production manager for several local businesses, including Perdue, Cold Water Seafood and B&G. He was last employed by J. V. Wells Lumber Co. After moving his young family to Sharptown in 1969, he quickly became fascinated with country living. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, being on the water and gardening. He loved living in Sharptown and on the Eastern Shore. The family would like to thank the staff of Coastal Hospice and the Department of Veterans Affairs for the care and support given through Mr. Rose’s illness. They would like to thank all of the special caregivers who have been by his side, especially Sadie Dear, Sarah Watson, and Julieanna Munoz. Also, from Angel’s Network 24/7, a special thank you to Nickie Colaianni and Shannen Hilton. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann E. (Tarpley) Rose, to whom he was married on June 6, 1965; a son, Bobby Rose and wife, Sandy of Sharptown; two daughters, Mary Rose Atlas-Terry and husband, Steve of Millersville and Elizabeth Rose Armentrout and husband, David of Parsonsburg; four grandchildren, Coltman Fletcher and wife, Courtney, Gunner Fletcher and wife, Christy Daniels, Morgan Terry and Jenna Armentrout; a sister, Patricia Rodden and husband, Ermine of Oklahoma; and a brother-in-law, George Clayton Tarpley and wife, Delores of Sharptown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, “Clancy.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rose, who died as a young boy. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held on hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Legion Post 218, 204 State Street, Sharptown, MD 21861.
