Mary Jane Ouellette

Mary Jane Ouellette, 91, of Salisbury, and formerly of Laurel, Delaware, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, after a brief stay at Wicomico Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond S. Ouellette, her husband of 39 years. Mary Jane was born January 26, 1933, in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Theodore and Robnette Langohr. Mary Jane was first and foremost a lover of her family, and she often expressed her love by feeding them. She really enjoyed cooking and feeding people. It gave her such joy to see others around the table eating her delicious creations. Celebrations at home often included not only her huge extended family but any and all people who needed a family. Holiday traditions were a big part of her life, and she spent months preparing menus and gathering supplies for the many dishes she prepared. She enjoyed canning and freezing vegetables from the garden, sewing and quilting and volunteering at Holy Redeemer - of course preparing meals for any and all church functions. After her husband passed away in 2008, she began volunteering at The Joseph House. Mary Jane and her husband Ray loved their home in Laurel, Delaware and enjoyed many happy hours out on their deck. They worked together to maintain their garden and property and invited their grandchildren over often. Many of the grandchildren fondly remember fancy ice cream sundaes, grilled hot dogs and Granny's famous subs that only she could make. Her legacy to her family is honoring family traditions filled with fun and food and most of all supporting each other along life's journey. Mrs. Ouelette is survived by 5 daughters, Donna Bowles, Loni Clark and husband Greig, Theresa Merkle and husband Bob, Diana Wareham and husband Ed and Robin Grant and husband John; 2 sons, Tomas Mansell and wife Dana and Raymond Ouellette and wife Janice; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Bowles; and a grandson, Tony Brown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Delmar. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
