Gerald Eugene Ellis

Gerald Eugene Ellis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on November 26, 1946, in Salisbury, Maryland, Gerry lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and love. He was the son of the late Paul Kinzer Ellis Jr. and Betty White Ellis, of Delmar. After graduating from Wicomico Senior High School in Salisbury, MD, Gerry earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, before enlisting in the United States Army where he joined the 82nd Airborne. Afterwards, he completed his training with the 7th Special Forces Group proudly becoming 1st Lieutenant, Green Beret. After the Army, Gerry entered the workforce at Crown Cork Seal before beginning a fruitful career in international sales at Perdue Farms, where he spent many years contributing to the poultry industry. His professional journey allowed him to travel extensively, seeing the world while forging lifelong relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Gerry's interests extended far beyond his professional life. A genuine lover of music, he found great joy in following the Jim Long Band, experiencing various performances as a devoted fan. The connections he made through these musical adventures blossomed into a family of friends who shared in his enthusiasm. He was also an avid sports fan who could be found on weekends playing tennis, pickleball, or cheering for the Maryland Terrapins and the Baltimore Ravens. Additionally, Gerry cherished his time spent line dancing and had a special fondness for sports cars. Gerry is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa M. Ellis, daughters Carrie Bornes and husband Michael, and Mollie Tichava; son Ross Ellis and wife Jennifer; and 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his in-laws and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Baumann. A memorial service celebrating Gerry's life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00.
