George "Prince" Edward Bradley

George “Prince” Edward Bradley, 82, of Sharptown, died peacefully at his home on Monday, December 14, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 23, 1927 in Sharptown, a son of the late George Frances Bradley and Ruth Windsor Bradley. Mr. Bradley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a Corporal in Germany and was awarded several service medals. He retired from E.I. DuPont in Seaford with over 42 years of service as an insulator and mechanic. For over 50 years he was a faithful member of the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Sharptown Fire Dept. Band. He was also a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Sharptown. As a talented musician, George was a member of the Mello Notes where he played the trumpet and was a soloist. He was also an accomplished equestrian who enjoyed riding and showing horses. As an avid sportsman he loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, crabbing and boat building. He was a very talented woodworker and built several boats from scratch. After retirement from Dupont he enjoyed his time on the water as a commercial crabber. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding and was a member of the United Tour Riders. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis Baker Bradley; a daughter, Pam Adams and her husband Eddie of Seaford; two sons, Mike Bradley and Doug Bradley and his fiancé, Dolly, all of Sharptown; a sister, Mary Culver of Sharptown; six grandchildren, Vanessa Adams-Cannon of Seaford, Donna Adams-Koch of Middletown, Leslie Bradley of Sharptown, Vickie Hudson of Salisbury, Bobbi Crouch of Sharptown and Mable Bradley of Sharptown; and a great granddaughter, Adrianna Cannon of Seaford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Carey, Velda Shockley, Frances Phillips Barker, Claude Bradley, Edith LeCates and Donald Bradley. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, and also on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00. The Reverend James Penuel will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Firemen’s Cemetery in Sharptown. Following the interment, the family would like to welcome everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the Sharptown Firemen’s Memorial Building.
