Alvina Lillian Berg

Alvina Lillian Berg, 97, of Salisbury, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born on July 26, 1925, in Perry Hall, Maryland, a daughter of the late Katherine Irene (Laudenklos) Dietz and Godfrey Dietz. As a young girl Alvina was nicknamed Rene by those close to her. Rene grew up on her family farm in Baltimore County where she learned the value of hardwork. She later married, Joseph Raymond Berg and worked with her husband on their dairy farm in Baltimore County. She later she also took on the name “Mom Berg” by many, as she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had a wonderful talent for sewing and loved to create things for others, some of those treasures include placemats, aprons, and purses. She was also a wonderful cook, and her family will especially remember her delicious homemade specialties including, fried chicken, blueberry pies, cakes, and strawberry shortcake. After retirement, she enjoyed fishing, flea markets and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Most importantly, all who met her were drawn to her special light and wonderful personality, she never met a stranger along her life’s journey. She was such a strong person, and up until the end she never complained and would always say she was perfect with a smile and a wink. She will be so very missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Nancylee M. Twilley and her husband Charles; grandchildren, Tammy Clark (Jeff Anderson), Marianne Koerner (Martin), Jeanne Mayhue, and Joanne Smith; great grandchildren, Sabrina Clark, Martin Koerner, Kyle Koerner, Stone Koerner, Colt Koerner, Tanner Mayhue, Joshua Mayhue, Jason Smith, and Justin Smith; a great-great grandson, Nathan Williams; an especially close sister, Mary Hofstetter; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Elizabeth Heffner, who was a best friend and shopping partner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Raymond Berg; a son Earl Raymond Berg; and siblings she was also especially close with, Thelma Butt, Fred Dietz, and Lettie Hack.
